PSYCHIATRIST – Durham, NC

Description:

The Spanish speaking psychiatrist will provide initial medication evaluation and medication to child, adolescent and adult patients in an outpatient setting. The psychiatrist will be provided with a caseload to grow to capacity within the first year. Productivity expectations are reasonable, allowing the practitioner to grow into the position, enjoy the work and maintain a healthy work-life balance. A medical assistant provides psychiatric case management and other supportive functions. The psychiatrist will enjoy a professional setting with full support including front desk reception and appointment scheduling. A comprehensive electronic health record system has been increasingly adapted for our practice over the last 7 years and so is an efficient system allowing the psychiatrist to focus more on clinical work. Medical billing and collections are performed by administrative staff at El Futuro.

El Futuro boasts an impressive and well trained staff with different areas of expertise including licensed therapists who employ a variety of individual and group EBPs including CBT, CPP, MI, IPT, and PICT. We also have an active substance abuse treatment program with several substance abuse counselors. Group interventions include SPARCS, Strengthening Families, DBT skills and other emerging research based parenting programs. The patient population typically presents with the following Disorders: Mood, Anxiety, PTSD and Trauma-related Disorders, ADHD, Behavioral Disorders,etc.

El Futuro is a renowned training site for medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows, family practice residents, psychiatric nurse practitioner students, master in social work students, PhD psychology interns, and others for year long training experiences through the NC AHEC program. Students come from Duke, UNC and other area schools. Time spent in teaching and mentoring activities is an option for the psychiatrist and is compensated.

Full-time compensation is offered or part time/contract. Post-graduate loan repayment through the NC Medical Society Foundation is an option because El Futuro is a pre-approved site. Days, evenings, and Saturday hours are available. There is no call. A-rated medical malpractice insurance is provided. Comprehensive benefits for full time staff include health, retirement, and life.

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
  • Board Certification is preferred.
  • Two years post-residency experience in a multidisciplinary human services setting is preferred.
  • Oral Spanish fluency.

The PMHNP will be provided with a caseload to grow to capacity within the first year.
