Bilingual Psychiatric Clinic Assistant (Part-time)

Would you like to join a growing, compassionate team of people who share a vision for a brighter future? El Futuro is the leading provider of behavioral health treatment to Latino families in North Carolina. Our mission is to nurture stronger familias to live out their dreams.

El Futuro is currently hiring a Part-time Bilingual Psychiatric Clinic Assistant to provide support and assistance to the psychiatric staff in order to enhance provision of care and maximize the efforts of the psychiatric provider. We are seeking someone who is very committed to working with the Latino community in North Carolina and open to the unique challenges of working in a non-profit organization. This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week. Please note that due to COVID-19, the position starts with a combination of virtual and in-person work required. Once the clinic fully opens, the position will require 100% in-person coverage in both locations: Durham and Siler City.

Responsibilities:
Case management support – coordinating lab orders, helping patients connect to other organizations or providers when referred by the psychiatrist, communicating with schools and primary care providers, and working collaboratively with the other case managers at El Futuro to find resources for patients.
Reviewing phone messages and texts left by patients for psychiatrists – calling patients back to clarify questions and generally assisting with requests and issues that do not need the psychiatrist’s direct involvement. This often involves calling pharmacies to clarify or help with medication orders and providing information for prior authorizations with medications.
When in clinic, the assistant will help take patient vital signs
Review the list of patients who have not been seen and complete discharge process in the medical record
Obtain release of information forms from patients when indicated
Draft form letters such as school/work excuses and therapeutic animal requests.
Communicate with IT support as issues arise to help facilitate workflow for the psychiatrist
Work with patients to enroll in medication assistance programs such as GoodRx, NeedyMeds, and company programs that provide medications for free.
Assist with entering information into the electronic medical record.

Requirements: Fully bilingual (English/Spanish), with excellent customer service skills who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. The individual must have high level organization, prioritization, communication and listening skills.

To apply, submit your resume and cover letter, with your salary expectation, to human_resources@elfuturo-nc.org.
