Sophie Litwin

Outpatient Therapist

Sophie was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey. She double majored in Psychology and Hispanic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania for her bachelor’s degree, then spent two years teaching English in Mexico and working at a hospital in Guatemala. Afterwards, Sophie pursued her PhD in School Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, including an especially formative practicum experience at El Futuro. She completed her predoctoral psychology internship at the University of New Mexico on the Clinical Child track as well as her postdoctoral fellowship focused on immigrant and refugee mental health in Aurora, Colorado. Sophie is committed to increasing access to trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health care for immigrant and refugee communities. She is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and families and incorporating creative approaches, including expressive arts and play therapy. In her free time, Sophie enjoys Zumba and Latin dance, hiking and walking, traveling, reading, and spending time with loved ones. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to rejoin the El Futuro team!
