El Futuro’s work has always been rooted in community—walking alongside familias to support healing, resilience, and access to culturally responsive mental health care. Increasingly, that commitment also brings us into broader systems-level conversations about how healthcare is designed, funded, and delivered across North Carolina.

This year, El Futuro is participating in the North Carolina Leadership Forum, a cross-sector convening of leaders working to address a timely and complex question: How can North Carolina best respond to a changing healthcare landscape? The Forum brings together leaders from healthcare, policy, philanthropy, business, and community organizations to explore emerging challenges and opportunities facing the state’s health systems.

Our presence in this space reflects El Futuro’s growing role as both a provider and a thought partner—bringing community-informed perspectives into conversations that shape policy and practice. New Americans are often underrepresented in decision-making spaces, even as they experience some of the greatest barriers to care. El Futuro’s participation helps ensure these perspectives are present as North Carolina imagines the future of healthcare access, integration of behavioral health, and community-centered models of care.

Being “at the table” is not symbolic—it is strategic. It strengthens partnerships, informs policy conversations with lived experience, and advances a vision of healthcare that is more equitable, more inclusive, and more responsive to the needs of families across our state. As we share our 2025 Annual Report, we are proud to highlight this work as part of El Futuro’s broader commitment to leadership, collaboration, and systems change in service of community wellbeing.
