Jessica Arlette Lomelí, MRS
Community Mental Health Worker
Jessica was born and raised in Mexico and later lived in Ireland, where she studied English, after completing her undergraduate degree in Mexico City. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the Universidad del Valle de México and completed her first year towards a teaching certificate in English as a Second Language at UNC-Wilmington in their masters of education program. Her passion for community work led her to volunteer at the Latinx Center in Detroit, Michigan, where she provided essential support to non-English speakers. She also spent two years as an ESL teacher for Chatham County Schools, helping Hispanic children learn English. Additionally, she worked at the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh, assisting Hispanic parents and their children in obtaining legal documentation for a variety of important needs. Beyond her direct community work, Jessica has actively contributed to numerous nonprofit organizations, supporting multicultural and diversity initiatives to foster stronger connections between communities and promote appreciation for different cultures. She has also conducted educational workshops and presentations for parents, guiding them on how to support their children’s academic success. Jessica joined El Futuro to reconnect with her passion for grassroots nonprofit work within the local Latinx community and to contribute to the organization’s meaningful mission.
