Alexa Skandar

Outpatient Therapist

Alexa grew up in a bicultural family, raised in both the United States and Bolivia, in addition to several years in the Czech Republic. She returned to the US for college, receiving her undergraduate degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and her Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to her career as a therapist, Alexa worked with Latinx communities in various capacities for over a decade, including case management, advocacy, and research in both Northern Virginia and the Triangle. Throughout these experiences, Alexa has been dedicated to using her bilingual and bicultural background to serve the Latinx community whenever possible. It is this passion and dedication that brought her to El Futuro. Outside of work, Alexa enjoys listening to music (especially live!), experiencing visual and performing arts, and watching competition TV shows with her 13-year-old daughter and kitties, Miski and Momo.
