Emely grew up in Raleigh, NC, after moving from New York, NY, at age 8. Proud of her Dominican roots, she is passionate about uplifting Afro-Latinx voices in mental health spaces. She earned her Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from UNC-Greensboro, with double minors in Women and Gender Studies and Psychology, and her Master’s in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland. During graduate school, she focused on addressing mental health disparities in minority families, with an emphasis on culturally responsive therapy, relationship dynamics, and trauma-informed care. With a strong background in working with diverse populations, Emely is passionate about supporting marginalized communities and advocating for mental health accessibility. Emely’s commitment to supporting children and families led her to join El Futuro, where she contributes to its mission of serving the Latinx community. She is committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing, utilizing a warm, relational approach that fosters trust and growth in therapy.
