Marina Fela-Castillo
Client Support Assistant
Marina grew up in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and moved to the United States at age eight, experiencing the challenges of adapting to a new country and facing limited resources. These experiences inspired her dedication to supporting her community’s well-being and cultural connection. While pursuing a degree in Biology and Hispanic Literature and Culture from UNC-Chapel Hill, Marina directly served the Hispanic population as a translator for UNC’s Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC) Clinic. As an artist, Marina engages in community related initiatives and fundraisers through her business. She first connected with El Futuro through their 2021 art fundraiser, where she donated her painting Emociones Libres. Her creative background fuels her commitment to breaking down mental health stigma and promoting healing through creatively supporting projects like, Me Vacuno Porque… (podcast) and most recently, her work on El Futuro’s Annual Gala decorations as both a volunteer in 2023 and a contracted lead in 2024.
Marina looks forward to helping foster a safe and inclusive space for healing in the Latine community through empathy, care, and creativity. Fun facts: Marina has two pets named Butter & Cheese; her favorite color is lilac purple.
