Nancy Fernandez

Mental Health Counselor and Addictions Specialist, LCSW-A, LCAS-A

Nancy grew up in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She moved to Durham, North Carolina at the age of 14. She did her bachelor’s degree in social work at Meredith College. She proceeded to complete her master’s degree in social work and addiction counseling at North Carolina State University.  Nancy completed multiple internships at EL FUTURO starting with “Conexiones” during undergraduate school, and “Sin Ataduras” during graduate school along with Pablo Silva as her supervisor.  She is currently taking classes at Duke University for Non-profit administration.  She works as a mental health and substance use counselor at the Community Care Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The Community Care Center is a non-profit organization that provides free medical and mental health services for uninsured individuals.  She also works as a group facilitator at EL FUTURO for the DWI settlement program. Nancy enjoys traveling around the world, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family.
