Paula Januzzi-Godfrey
Media Coordinator and Librarian in K-5 Public Elementary School
Paula was raised in Ohio surrounded by a large loving Italian family. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Cincinnati and has worked with children and families in educational settings for over 40 years. Paula moved to Durham, NC in 1992. After her children were born in 1992 and 1996, she founded and directed BUSY STREET Children’s Museum, located in The Shoppes At Lakewood, next to the current site where El Futuro is located. She has many fond memories of spending 5 years with children and families in that space at Shoppes At Lakewood and is thrilled to see families laughing and playing in the beautiful outdoor space there now. Paula returned to teaching in Durham Public Schools in 2003. She received her Master of Library Science in 2024 and is currently enjoying being the librarian at Glenn Elementary School in East Durham. Paula has visited El Salvador numerous times over the past 15 years to introduce youth and church members to the history and beauty of the country and its people. She has been an advocate for Latino children and families in DPS for over 20 years. Paula is married and has a daughter who lives in San Diego and a son in Virginia. Whenever possible she enjoys quiet trips to the mountains and beach, writing, baking and swimming.
