Becky Leon
Program Manager for Community Engagement
Becky grew up in Kinston, North Carolina, but completed her academic career at East Carolina University. She obtained a degree in Biology, B.S. and a Master’s in Hispanic Studies. While in Greenville, she volunteered for the organization of AMEXCAN, which focuses on Latinx growth in the community in areas of health, leadership, youth development, outreach, and advocacy. This work inspired Becky to pursue other areas to help the Latinx community. She continued her professional career as a health coach for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at ECU, which influenced her interest in El Futuro. She’s excited about getting in touch with the community served by El Futuro and establishing long-term relationships and successes through her work. She enjoys exploring new, creative hobbies, including making candles, eternal bouquets, beaded jewelry, and recently making and painting clay pieces. Additionally, she likes to focus on improving her health through exercise by going to the gym and on walks.
